We love boats.
It’s that simple. WWYMS, a yacht sourcing and management company, was established because there is nothing else we’d rather be doing…
CEO Roy Dunster started sailing when he was seven years old and yachts have been a lifelong passion ever since. The fervor has been fueled by sailing and racing all over the world in both dinghies and keelboats, with some success. He was spinnaker trimmer on the J109 Jeroboam, the second South African yacht in 184 years to win a class at Cowes Week. Another personal achievement was sailing on three continents (excluding Africa where he is based most of the time) in one week.
He holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, and has built a career as a management consultant, which means he generally focuses on getting clients out of difficult situations. No matter where life has taken him, he has always been involved with yachts in one way or another - either as a foil designer and manufacturer, dinghy designer, a respected sailing journalist or as a broker for some of Europe’s most prestigious yachting brands in South Africa.
Gavin Nadauld (Vice President: Yacht Management) and Keith Nadauld (Vice President: Yacht Charters) started on ski boats on the KwaZulu-Natal coast during the mid 1980s. Their early obsession with yachting determined what they wanted their careers to be, and both went into the industry full-time immediately after high school. They have worked on and run yachts, for both charter guests and private clients, around the world. Their expertise includes power and sail as well as mono and multihull up to 176 foot. In addition to knowing how to make the most out of your cruising yacht investment, they also bring valuable, in-depth knowledge about the world’s best yachting locations.
WWYMS was born out of a perceived need for a different type of yacht brokerage.
Rather than having a list of yachts on our books which we have to try and sell, we specifically work with buyers rather than sellers. This means that the sole focus of our brokerage is on procuring the ideal yacht for the buyer, rather than attempting to convince him or her that what we have in stock
might do. In most cases, our fees are paid out of the commission paid to the selling broker, so our service should not cost our clients any extra.
Our Yacht Management and charter competencies were born from the desire to form long lasting relationships with our clients and ensure that their interests after the sale are protected to the same level as they were during the procurement process. As a yacht buyer, you can opt to sign up for our management service or include your vessel in our yacht charter pool, knowing that it will be properly maintained and cared for. These services are also available to owners who did not procure their yachts through WWYMS.
Because of our backgrounds in power and sail, cruising and racing, we can put together a customised package for your yacht’s intended use. If your intention is to go cruising, we can make sure that you will be comfortable and are able to experience the best parts of your chosen cruising grounds, even if they are not the most obvious ones. If your goal is to win regattas on your racing sailboat, we can manage your whole program, from selecting the yacht (used or new) to managing the sail programme, to crew selection and managing the yacht.
Most of all, yachts have been a huge part of our lives, enabling us to visit amazing places and have incredible adventures with people that have become great friends. By yacht sourcing the perfect vessel for you, we’d like to help you have similar experiences.
